Hi guys, new to the group. I have a 3 month old Tucson Hybrid that let me down a bit yesterday.
42 degree Celsius day and air conditioning just blew very hot air when on.
Turned out the thermo fan for the condensor/radiator didn't like the heat either. It was not coming on. This was stopping the compressor from running.
This is required to cool the air through the condensor and therefore the gas returning to the compressor so the gas returns to a liquid state.
The low pressure pipe on the compressor which is supposed to be cold was extremely hot.
I cooled the condensor down with hosewater through the grill and the compressor started right up.
The thermo fan did not start - however I drove it and the air flow through the grill cooled the thermo fan down and everything worked perfectly again.
42 degree days in Australia are not that unusual and this problem will come back. The car should be able to cope with this.
I'm not sure what the fix is but I will be returning to Hyundai and let you know what they come up with.
